We are excited to announce Liz as one of our new Summer 2019 Brand Ambassadors.
"My name is Liz Arnquist, and I graduated from Northern Michigan University in December 2015 with my Bachelors of Science in Elementary and Special Education. I came to NMU after growing up in the suburbs of Chicago. I'll be honest, after my first visit to NMU in February of 2012 I was not smitten with Marquette but over the course of the next three years, I absolutely fell in love. The Yoop seemed like it had been my home all along. I was embraced by the community, cultivated my love of the outdoors, made some of my best friends, and learned a little at NMU (actually a lot, I am incredibly grateful for my entire experience at NMU).
After graduation, I moved back to the Chicago suburbs where I took a middle school teaching job and coached Special Olympics. I never thought I would teach middle school but I loved it. A few months after graduation I married my high school sweetheart (He went to the "other Marquette" in Milwaukee, WI) after he was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the U.S Army. We moved down to Virginia and spent the first few months of our marriage south of Richmond, VA. We then took a cross country road trip to our current home in Washington.
The Pacific North West is stunning. In many ways, it reminds me of Marquette. I love being able to ski in the morning and paddle board in the afternoon. When I am not teaching or working on my Masters I am outside. The summers are filled with camping, hiking, and paddle boarding while the winters are spent skiing and snowshoeing.
I fell in love with Beth Millner Jewelry during my time in Marquette. When it came time to leave, I knew I needed to take a piece of the U.P. with me. Every day I proudly wear my Mini Upper Peninsula Pendant. It goes on every adventure with me and I have been deeply impressed by the quality and craftsmanship that goes into each Beth Millner piece. I am honored to support an environmentally minded, small, female-owned business."
