The Marquette Board of Light and Power created a community solar garden and we bought two panels in it! As of September 19, it has been actively producing clean renewable energy. Marquette is the first and only community solar garden in the Upper Peninsula.
The solar garden gives energy customers a green option without having to install solar energy equipment on their homes or businesses. It is is composed of 480 solar panels that each generate 382 kilowatt hours per year. Any Marquette Board of Light and Power customer in good standing is eligible to purchase one of the panels. They help to offset the amount of fossil fuel energy which is a big deal when it comes to the health of our planet.
Solar energy is a huge step towards changing our current destructive systems. We are so proud to be able to support this project and hope to purchase more panels in the future.
