I was married on Mackinac Island in a friend's backyard. It was perfect; the day was hot and dry but everything was green, lush, and alive. The ceremony was intimate with only a few friends and my older brother in attendance.
The rings we exchanged were sterling silver bands from Beth Millner Jewelry. We discussed many options with Beth and liked the more intricate designs, but decided on simple sterling silver bands. I loved that they were straightforward and self-contained but still bright and lovely. They perfectly exemplified us: he was quiet and pensive, I, gregarious and sunny.
A few years into my marriage I commissioned a custom BMJ wedding ring to use the family diamond still set in my engagement band. It seemed like a waste to have such a perfect little stone sit in a jewelry box. The new ring was exactly what I wanted: a wider band with an etched line down the middle, giving it a double banded look. I loved seeing my great grandmother’s diamond everyday.

My marriage ended this year. Before it was officially over I had stopped wearing my wedding band, but I still found myself feeling for it with my thumb, a habit that started on my wedding day.
Throughout our marriage I received multiple Beth Millner Jewelry gifts. For a brief time I wondered what my relationship with those gifts would be. It didn't take long to realize I loved the jewelry as much as ever because they represent times in my life which deserve to be cherished.
I now have two rings to wear on my left hand, a BMJ Radiating Sunfish and Cresting Wave. My thumb can happily wander over and again feel the calming, cool metal. On my right hand I wear a Lake Superior Agate two remarkable friends gave me earlier this summer. This ring will always remind me of their unfailing love and support as I crept my way from shadow to sun.
I am not a UP native, and perhaps some people would have packed up, gone back to their home town, and tried to leave the hurt behind-- not me. Marquette is my home town. I am delighted to share my love of Beth Millner Jewelry with this beautiful community.
I am grateful to more people than I can count for supporting me through this difficult time in my life. But here, right now, I am grateful to Beth and her fantastic team for encouraging this girl to feel appreciated, valued, and beautiful inside and out.
