Cleaning & Care & Chains, Oh My!

If you happen to be the lucky recipient of a uniquely lovely Beth Millner piece this holiday season, here is everything you need to know about preserving the beauty of your jewelry and choosing the right chain!

Cleaning & Care

When it comes to Beth Millner Jewelry, it is important to keep in mind that because of the various materials and intricate textures used in each item, cleaning and care varies from piece to piece.

Important Cleaning tips:

  • Remove your jewelry before swimming, showering, or physical labor
  • Most of our jewelry can be maintained by lightly rubbing it with a polishing pad or cloth which we have for sale here
  • Avoid polishing stones when cleaning your jewelry
  • Items containing 24K Gold Keum Boo or 22K Gold Applied on silver should only be cleaned by our shop
  • Do not use a dip cleaner on pieces with patina. You will know your piece has patina if some of the metal is darkened (usually to add depth and shadowy elements to a design) Instead use soap and water and a polishing pad or extra fine steel wool

Choosing The Right Chain

We know that your jewelry preferences are as unique as you are. For that reason we provide a variety of chain options.

Important factors to consider when picking a chain are length and look. Picking the right one depends on your stature and personality.

We carry chains from 16- 22in and can also customize the length of our Tiny Loopy or Adjustable Chains. Adjustable chains are always a good way to go if you like to mix up the length of your jewelry or if you find yourself between sizes.

Before your head starts to spin with choices let us direct you! Check out these charts below and keep in mind height, body structure, style preference, and neck thickness when deciding which category you or your loved one fits into.

Once you've figured out which length you like it's time to consider your wardrobe and personality to find the right chain. Keep in mind that style preferences vary from person to person regardless of their size. Smaller people might like long necklaces and vice versa.

If your style is more traditional we usually recommend a sterling silver chain. The most classic chain we offer is the sterling silver box chain (click here to view). Our alternative, tiny loopy (click here to view) has a more casual and textured look to it.

For those who are a bit more edgy or earthy, our darkened chains offer unique appeal. For delicate pieces the darkened box chain (click here to view) pairs lovely. With complex pieces, the darkened tiny loopy (click here to view) is a sure fit.

All the chains are beautiful and truly nobody knows better than you which chain will make you feel like your best self (and that is the most important thing).

Sizing
Ring Sizing

Purchase this ring sizer to help determine your ring size. This sizing tool is most accurate for double band rings and bands 6mm and under.

Fingers can change size due to many circumstances, the best way to get an accurate size is to check the size a couple of different times to determine your best size. The majority of our rings can be resized, but if the ring has a stone setting other than a diamond, it probably cannot be resized unless otherwise noted in the item listing.

Some of our rings with stones are shown with the stone not set in order for us to size the ring to your specifications and set the stone afterwards. This avoids damage to the stone during sizing. Reference the individual ring listings for more details. Wide Bands 7mm and above have more friction against the finger and will need to be ordered a little larger.

Our double band rings fit like a narrow band, when getting sized for a double band ring, you can get sized for a ring that is narrow.

When getting your finger sized, inform jeweler of the width band you are intending on purchasing and rely on them to determine your ring size.

Look here for more information about resizing items that you have already received.

Engagement Ring Sizing

Purchase this ring sizer to help determine your ring size. This sizing tool is most accurate for double band rings and bands 6mm and under.

There are many sneaky options for getting the size right, but the best way is to have their finger sized by a professional.

You may be able to sneak one of their rings and bring it into a jewelry store and ask to check the size.

Beth Millner Jewelry has wish lists too, so they could come in to the store and fill out a wish list and hopefully they provides their ring size.

Bracelet & Cuff Sizing

Measure wrist circumference. Take your measurement just above the wrist above bone.

Use the chart below to determine the correct size.

The bracelets we make are designed to fit comfortably, but if a looser fit is preferred, the next size up may be suitable.

Bangle Sizing

Bangle Size is determined by hand size, rather than wrist size

Measure hand size by tucking your thumb in, just like when trying on a bangle. Measure around the thickest part of the hand while in this position.

Use the chart below to determine the correct bangle size.

Medium 8-9 20-23
Large 9-9.5 23-24
Pendant & Earring Sizing

When determining the size of pendant or earrings you would like to purchase, please reference the item description which includes the size of the piece.

Also, there will be an image with a hand in the picture to help visualize the size.

When choosing a piece for another person, we find that our customers choose pieces that are similar to their overall stature.

People that are shorter and small tend to like smaller items, tall slender people tend to like our longer larger pieces.

Chain Length

When picking out a chain, 18 inch is the most common length.

This would cause the pendant to sit between the collar bones.
