Chelsea 2023

Chelsea 2023

I'm a Bookseller at Snowbound Books and Outreach Coordinator for Brogan & Yonkers PC, where I regularly interact with the community. I'm a runner, painter, reader, and outdoor enthusiast. I volunteer and participate in various events with UPLC, the NTN, Two Books Two Communities, the U of M alumni group. I participate in Queen City's pub runs and show up to nearly all running events in Marquette, as well as throughout the U.P. with the Run the U.P. Challenge. Beth Millner Jewelry reflects this love of the U.P., and the shared connections to nature and artistry -- I can see wearing and talking about these pieces authentically through all of these activities and involvement (as I already do with my current March pendant!).

Cammy 2023

Cammy 2023

Cammy is a born and raised Yooper who graduated high school and college in Marquette. She loves living here, trying new food, and exploring new places. She works as an optician and loves the fashion and fun of wearing glasses and helping patients find their perfect pair. In her free time she enjoys listening to local musicians, kayaking, exploring trails and waterfalls, painting, and being with friends and family. When asked about her favorite BMJ pieces, she said “I love the pendants that are are Marquette/UP specific. I’ve been following Beth’s art for so long, I love every piece. The style is so unique.”

Rebecca 2023

Rebecca 2023

Rebecca is a returning BMJ ambassador who worked with us in 2019. She was born downstate, but moved to Houghton in 2007 for grad school and hasn’t left the UP since. She teaches high school English in L’Anse and is a published author. She is currently working on her second novel. She’s also an avid knitter, traveler, and serves on her library’s advisory board. When asked what her favorite BMJ piece is, Rebecca said, “Don’t make me choose! But I think the Celestial Lovers Reversible Pendant. I love the mixed metals on the piece, and the moon detail is just amazing. My dad’s an amateur astronomer and I’ve got wonderful memories of laying out at night in this field behind our house with him looking at the sky.”

Amber, Beth Millner Jewelry Ambassador, Summer 2022

Amber 2022

I’d like to first introduce myself; my name is Amber Aldridge and I’m originally from a tiny town located in the UP named Ironwood. I would also like to call a small town also located in the UP named Marquette one of my homes as well. I spent quite a few years in Marquette and I’ve met so many amazing and inspiring people that I now call good friends, but besides those little facts about me I also want to discuss everything I loved about the UP and everything I love about living here in Utah and the year beforehand living in Colorado.

Kristen, Beth Millner Jewelry Ambassador, Summer 2022

Kristen 2019, 2022

This summer I was chosen to become a brand ambassador for Beth Millner Jewelry. What a treat! I’ve long admired Beth’s jewelry because, for this Yooper, what’s not to like? All of her pieces are nature-themed, and many of them are inspired by real places in the UP. In addition, she uses eco-friendly practices like using recycled copper from a local mine, and she also offers “fundraiser jewelry” where a portion of the jewelry sales are donated to non-profit organizations.

I’m so happy to be representing Beth Millner Jewelry this summer, and thought I would share a little bit of my story to tell you why I was so drawn to this opportunity. When I was really little, about 4 years old in 1980 or so, my family packed up a car and we moved from Kentucky where I was born to the wild UP wilderness of Rock, MI…a tiny town with one flashing light between Marquette and Escanaba. My dad built a little a-frame cabin, dug a well, and we lived deep in the woods off the grid there for years, 5 miles down a dirt road. My memories of that time are just pure bliss, running wild and free in the woods, learning how to not get lost in the woods, catching snakes, picking berries, climbing trees, building forts, learning to garden, skiing everywhere on some ancient wooden skis. I learned to ride my ancient banana seat bike on a gravel road, and promptly rode it straight into a ditch…40 years later I’m still kind of doing exactly the same thing!

Marissa 2021

Marissa 2021

I’m Marissa, a born and raised Michigan gal currently residing in Murray, Kentucky with my best friend, Kristin, and our very sassy cat, Willow. Born in Holland, MI, I grew up on the shores of Lake Michigan, exploring dunes and old growth forests, getting muddy catching frogs, and freckling in the sun. So naturally, when it came time to choose a college and career, I chose to head north to Northern Michigan University, where I earned my Bachelor’s in Environmental Studies and Sustainability. Through working with native flora, fauna, studying sustainability, food systems, and so much more, I realized being an interpretive naturalist and environmental educator is my true passion...

Hannah 2021

Hannah 2021

Back in 2012, I was an 18-year-old senior in high school and lifelong jewelry addict dragging her mother to Beth Millner Jewelry’s grand opening. I don’t recall why or how we ended up outside the shop, but when I see the word “jewelry,” I am a moth fluttering to the bright light.

When I opened the door and peered inside the display cases--in what was once a single showroom--it became love at first sight. Beth’s work felt like an encapsulation of myself, from the nature inspired designs, to the sustainable production and practices of the business--I knew I needed to own a piece of her work.

My pitbull mix, Zia, and I live on the UP shore of Lake Michigan where I work as a Geological Engineer. We both enjoy the outdoors and you’ll usually find us next to the lake (Superior, Michigan or any of northern Wisconsin’s inland lakes!). I love to hike, camp, paddleboard, wakesurf, beach comb and practice yoga. And in the winters I enjoy snowshoeing, snowboarding, ice fishing, cross country and telemark skiing, and doing even more yoga.
